Working from the Community Foundation's Belfast offices, Vernon is the strategic driving force behind YouthBank.
Involved since the initiatives instigation, he has played a central role in animating its initial pilot phase, guiding the subsequent periods of growth, consolidation and renewed growth and developing the considerable international dimension to the work.
As well as playing a pivotal role in the YouthBank networks in Northern Ireland, Britain and further afield, Vernon has acted as a consultant and trainer in many countries including Bosnia; Serbia; Azerbaijan; South Africa and Australia.
Vernon brought a wealth of youth work experience to YouthBank NI having previously headed up the Community Foundation's Unattached Youth Programme, a demonstration initiative that ran throughout much of the 1990s.
Edel took up post as YouthBank Development Officer in September 2006. She is employed by the Irish Youth Foundation to support and develop the YouthBank network across the Republic of Ireland.
Previous to this, Edel worked for Foroige National Youth Organisation as a Project Co-ordinator in Longford. This included co-ordinating the Longford YouthBank (known locally as the Longford Young Investors!).
Edel has also been involved in international YouthBank development work and has traveled to Georgia, Krygyzstan, Poland and Azerbaijan delivering training on the YouthBank model.
