CZECH REPUBLIC
YouthBank’s work in the Czech Republic, like that in several other countries, had its beginnings at a seminal international training event held in Belfast in March 2003.
Impressed by the impact and potential transferability of the youth-led grant-making model developed by YouthBank , the European Foundation Centre secured the funding for this week long training the trainers event.
The intensive programme delivered by YouthBank personnel equipped the twelve participants with a detailed understanding of what is involved in establishing; developing; supporting and maintaining a YouthBank or network of YouthBanks.
Amongst those attending was a representative of the Community Foundation of Elbe Euroregion. Subsequently they invited the YouthBank Co-ordinator to facilitate an information and planning session in Prague. This took place in November 2004 and resulted in the formation of consortium of interested parties who are currently seeking the resources to establish a network of YouthBanks in the Czech Republic.
The Youth Advisory Committee is a group of young people who cooperate to implement a project of the same name designed by the Community Foundation of the Elbe Euroregion
