The Slovakian YouthBank Network will be meeting from 20-23rd February 2009 to review and refresh YouthBank practices and will be facilitated by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland.
Previous Work
Following inputs by The Community Foundation’s YouthBank office personnel at European Foundation seminars in Lisbon in 2003, Athens in 2004 and Budapest in 2005 a group of Slovakian based community foundations have been inspired to incorporate youth-led grant-making into their portfolio of community-based philanthropy.
As a result, the Presov Community Foundation, Nitra Community Foundation and the Healthy City Community Foundation from the Banska Bystrica region now support a network of YouthBanks in Slovakia.
The Community Foundation’s YouthBank office remains in contact with these community foundations with plans currently being developed for future exchange and training activity involving young grant-makers and support staff participating in YouthBanks in the two countries.
