The Golden Fleece

Just across the administrative line between Abkhasia and Georgia the small town of Anaklya was the venue for the next phase of YouthBank development in Georgia. The Golden Fleece hotel's facilities were ideal for the 100 new YouthBank members who arrived from 26 parts of the country. This latest investment from the Belgian government seeks to bridge positive relationships between young grant makers from Georgia, Abkhasia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. The training involved many of the workshops being led by former YouthBank members who could also speak Russian and Azeri languages. The late evenings also provided for some great cultural celebrations with dance, song and poetry from the various regions. It is intended to establish a Georgian network of YouthBank members to inform future directions of this dynamic youth-led grant-making initiative.
