Strategic Aim To increase the participation of young people in local development processes of Bosnia Hercegovina`s rural communities. Strategic Objectives To establish,support and subsequently promote the work of five youth-led grant-making groups operating in a range of locations and contexts across Bosnia Hercegovina with a view to:- (a) providing young people participating as grant-makers with significant personal development and capacity building opportunities that will:- • increase their skill base (notably in relation to their capacities and competencies in relation to decision making; resource allocation; communication; strategic and operational planning; presentation-making; research and evaluation; • enhance their employability; • develop their interest in undertaking active citizenship tasks and roles and their confidence & competence to do so; • stimulate their awareness of the dynamics, forces and institutions that shape and influence the social, economic; cultural and political landscapes that shape their lives (b) enable groups of young people who secure grants from local YouthBanks to plan, implement and evaluate projects designed by themselves to have positive social impact within the communities they live in; (c) increase awareness amongst funding bodies and corporate donors; international development agencies; indigenous NGOs; public bodies and local, regional and central government of the wide range of benefits arising from youth-led grant making programmes as exemplified by the YouthBank approach; (d) establish strong network relationships and practises amongst the five YouthBanks to support this work while it is being developed, and contribute to the creation of structures that will play a pivotal role in ensuring its future sustainability; (e) provide mutual learning and experience exchange between young grant-makers involved in YouthBanks in Bosnia Herzegovina, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
